From September 2012, students joining Wilberforce will have an even wider menu of courses to choose from, following the introduction of Polish and Religious Studies to the A-levels offered by the college. Wilberforce Sixth Form College are currently the only provider in Hull and East Riding offering students the opportunity to study A-level Polish, so this is a unique opportunity for students from across the area, with an interest in the language and culture of Poland.
Principal Stephan Jungnitz explains, ‘We are always looking for ways to expand our range of courses to best meet the needs of young people. Each year, we dedicate time to developing excellent new courses in line with what students are interested in studying, for example, last year we introduced A-level Government and Politics, and BTEC courses in Business, Law and Beauty Therapy, all of which have proved to be hugely successful. We know that increasing numbers of young people are studying Polish at GCSE and want to provide the opportunity for them to take this further at college”.
In addition to Polish, the college are drawing upon the excellent teaching and expertise within the popular Humanities department, to deliver an A-level in Religious Studies, giving students the opportunity to explore philosophy, ethics and some of the world’s major religions.
If you would like further information on these new courses, or any of the courses offered at Wilberforce, you can order course factsheets here.
