We understand that students often have questions about what college is going to cost. Don’t worry! There are no enrolment fees and attending college is completely free for students aged 16 – 18 (you must be under 19 on the 31st August immediately before you start your courses). We also provide all course materials and exam entries are also free as part of the course.
We try to keep the costs of attending college as low as possible for all students to make sure you won’t have any money worries during your time here. We heavily subsidise lots of different products and services, such as food, stationery, clothing (e.g. college hoodies) and buses .
We also pay any costs arising (such as entry and transport fees) for students who excel in competitions, such as the British College Sports events.
There are a number of different payments available to help you meet the cost of college, depending on your individual circumstances:
College Bursary
For students who need financial help in order continue with their studies, a College Bursary is available. Any student at Wilberforce who meets the criteria is eligible to apply for the full Bursary Award. Full details of eligibility will be provided at enrolment. The award currently has a value of £1200 a year and is payable in monthly instalments.
College Award
Students who received free school meals during year 11 at school are eligible to apply for a College Award, which currently has a value of £10 per week.
Hardship Fund
Students who are experiencing exceptional financial hardship can apply for additional assistance through Student Services where their circumstances and eligibility will be assessed on an individual basis
