There are no enrolment fees and attending college is completely free for students aged 16 – 18 (you must be under 19 on the 31st August immediately before you start your courses). All course materials and exam entries are also free as part of the course.
To keep the costs of attending College as low as possible for all students, the College provides the following heavily subsidised products and services:
We also pay any costs arising (such as entry and transport fees) for students who excel in competitions such as the national College Sports events.
Unfortunately, EMA has been fully withdrawn by the government to new students, so this is no longer available. For students who need financial help in order continue with their studies, a College Bursary is available.
Any student at Wilberforce who meets any of the following criteria is eligible to apply for the full Bursary Award:
The award currently has a value of £1200 a year and is payable in monthly instalments.
Students who received free school meals during their year 11 at school are eligible to apply for a College Award which currently has a value of £10 per week. Students have two options for how they can receive this award:
Option 1: Stagecoach Megarider (which will pay for a full week’s travel to College) and £1 per day meal voucher
Option 2: £2 per day meal voucher
Students who are experiencing exceptional financial hardship can apply for additional assistance through Student Services where their circumstances and eligibility will be assessed on an individual basis.
