Sport is very popular at Wilberforce. We have Rugby, Football and Netball teams who compete in the British Colleges Sport Programme (BCS) – where fixtures are held every Wednesday afternoon, both home and away. All students have Wednesday afternoons free, so even if you don’t want to play on a team, you can still come along to support them.
In 2011, our Ladies Football team were crowned league champions of Yorkshire after losing only one match all season. So far in 2012, our Netball team are working towards the final of the BCS National League, one of our First Team footballers has made it on to the BCS England Team and we have a whole team of students that have made it to the BCS Championships in sports such as cross-country, swimming, and squash.
If you wanted to be involved in sports outside of these teams and competitions, you could always try out one of our many sports enrichment programmes instead, such as :
Our sports facilities include an indoor sports hall, outdoor netball/basketball courts and a large field with rugby and football pitches. This year we will be improving our facilities too, with the addition of an all weather sports pitch.
