Wilberforce Sixth Form College is today congratulating students on their 2023 exam results.

We are celebrating outstanding achievement of learners who were affected by the pandemic, home schooling and cancellation of exams.  We are delighted to congratulate their hard work, resilience, and talent.

Students on Level 3 vocational programmes enjoyed exceptional levels of achievement with high pass rates on all courses. Vocational qualifications and T Levels are high-quality and career focused. The skills gained shape careers, support local industry and impact in the real world. In 2023, these skills have never been more valued.

Colin Peaks, Principal of Wilberforce Sixth Form College, said, “We are especially delighted with the results this year.  Despite many students not having sat a formal exam in previous years, they have adapted and continued to learn and flourish during a period of study like no other.

“We consistently have one of the highest levels of progression into higher education, apprenticeship and sustainable employment in the city, and this year is no different.  Our students are progressing to a range of universities, including the prestigious Russell Group.”

Amongst the many fantastic results, Maxime Southgate-Bertrand achieved an A, B and Distinction* and has secured a place at the University of York studying BA Music and Sound Recording.

Maxime says, “I’m really happy with my results and that I have gained my first choice of university. The opportunities Wilberforce has offered me within the music sector has been unreal. In my first year I was the sound engineer during a College festival which gave me a first-hand experience of the industry and what it takes to do that job. My teachers Mike and Laurence have massively supported me throughout my journey, I can’t thank them enough.”’

Colin continues, “We are immensely proud of all our students and delighted for those who have been rewarded for their hard work and determination.

I would also like to acknowledge our staff for the unwavering support they have given to students, both in and outside of the classroom.  We have been able to create some amazing experiences and memories for students ensuring that their sixth form experience is more than just their results.”

For those students uncertain about the future, our careers team are available to offer advice and guidance to direct students to their next positive step.
